Crochet - Button Monster

Thought I'd make little man a cuddly monster toy with all my left over scraps I had, so for the past few nights I've been busy hooking away.

I knotted all my little strands of yarn together and made a long length with it. I keep seeing these cute toys people have made by using simple squares or circles, so thought I'd do a long rectangle as my monster body.

I see you.......

I have hundreds of buttons in a jar I'm determined to use up this year (My life aims are quite small) so everything I make will be smothered in buttons haha.

I have a face, give us a kiss.

I made a grey back panel, then crocheted it together and stuffed the little sucker. At this point I have noticed its getting less cute and more I'm going to eat you. I hope this thing isn't going to give little man nightmares....................

nightmares, nightmares, nightmares

Here's my bum.

My husband said in fits of laughter, what's wrong with its legs. My reply was its a creative decision, one long, one short.... and that's what I'm sticking with.

Just managed to finish my button monster before I picked little man up from school.

The verdict was good he loved it.

Hope it doesn't kill me in my sleep!

No matter how many toys I make I can't seem to get the hang of them haha oh well at least my little mans young enough to still love my monstrosity's.

Crochet - Hook case

I'm sick of getting hot, sweaty and mildly irritated, scrambling around the place trying to find all my hooks. It drives me nuts, so decided to make my own case to store everything in.

I used a single crochet stitch through out, I didn't want a fussy stitch because of the wools nice colour and pattern.

I have a pot filled with a million buttons I need to use up, so instead of press studs I went with a button loop to keep it all together.

I haven't figured out how I'm going to keep my crochet hooks in place yet. Might do a little pocket, its a work in progress, nearly finished though.

I'm not going to line the inside because I love the colour to much. The wool is so soft.

Crochet hygge

I have been going all Danish lately. I got these books for Christmas and they were such a good read. Its certainly an eye opener on how the people there live. The Danish are meant to be the most happiest folk in the world. I'm not surprized by the sounds of it. A great welfare system, lots of time off work to spent with the family and to do hobbies oh and the best bit, lots of exceedingly good cakes.

Thought I'd try my hand at a little hygge of my own and whipped up a nice cosy hot water bottle to snuggle up to with my hot chocolate on cold nights.

I had a load of red double knit wool and some specked Aran in my bits bag, thought the colours looked quite Scandinavian, so went with that.

I ran out of red wool so just did a plain white back.

It looks a bit fluffy in the photo, my husband used it when he was ill, so its well worn already. He gave it the thumbs up though.

Crochet - Back panel of mandala

Everyone is asleep early, so I had the rare privilege of watching what I wanted on the telly and I threw in a spot of crocheting as well.
I'm back on the mandala.

Most people I talk to hate sewing in all the ends but I'm a freak and love it. I find it quite relaxing.

I loved watching the Great British Throwdown last year. So happy to discover it was back on after some channel hopping.

Didn't take me long tidying up the loose ends, so I made a start on the back panel. Found this big ball of pink wool which I thought would look good with the coloured rounds.

Seeing if it fits, nearly!

I did the panel in a simple triple crochet stitch.

I just need to pop to the shops and hunt round for some circular cushion pads. Then I'll start putting it all together. I'm not sure if I'm going to use a zip or buttons. I want to be able to take it off and wash the cover, I'll have to see.

Some projects are a bit of a chore but I really enjoyed this, feeling happy with how its turning out.

Crochet - Hippy bag

I wanted a bag which was a bit of fun, something to take on the beach or do a school run. So I came up with this little hippy bag. Just need to finish the strap and its all done.

The body panel is done in single crochet stitch.

I found this great little pattern for the flowers. There so easy and quick to do. I just sewed them onto the front panel.

Here's the link if anyone is interested.

Just a plain back, stitched using single crochet again. The yarn I used was of different thicknesses, so it didn't lye quite flat, but I don't mind its only on the back, no one will see and its only a knock around bag.

Close up of my cute flowers.

Can't wait to try it out.

Crochet - Mandala

One of my 2017 resolutions was not to make anymore crocheted afghan blankets and to my surprised I've kept to it! I was starting to become a one trick pony there for awhile.

As each day passes it seems to be getting warmer outside and were losing the winter chill. So I'm getting prematurely into the summer spirit and have started on a few cushions for the chairs I have in my courtyard.

Mandalas seem popular at the moment, so thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and have a go myself.

Another resolution of mine was not to buy any more yarn this year, I need to make myself use all the sack fulls of wool in my cupboard first. I'm sick of moving them round. I also want to learn some more new stitches, so I thought this was the ideal project.
   ,

I'm not following a pattern, just winging it at the moment.

Few more rounds and I think it will be done, don't want it too big. Then I can get started on the back panel.
